Getting the Base-ics Right

Concrete garages should be erected upon a permanent concrete base of suitable thickness. We recommend a minimum of 4 inch thickness throughout. The base should be FLAT LEVEL AND SQUARE, and at least 6 inch longer and 6 inch wider than the external dimensions of the garage to be supplied.

It is very good practice to make sure that the ground surrounding the base is lower than the base. If not water will lay on the base and break throuh the sand and cement filler andleak into your building. If the driveway slopes down towards the front of your building you must put in a guley to take any surface water away. We cannot guarantee the performance of your building unless a gulley / ako drain has been fitted.

In order to check that your base is square measure out a 3-4-5 triangle before securing your shuttering boards.

We would advise using a reputable ready mix concrete company who will roughly tell you the cubic volume you require, the only problem with this isthat you can often be left with too much or too little that is why we would advise paying a little extra for a volume mixer, where you only pay for what you lay.
